Dr. Haskell has been involved in EMS since 1983, and has served as a paramedic in four states, in both the street and emergency department, ICU and pediatric advanced transport team. Emergency Medical Technology Editor for Gannett Healthcare Group, and author of five books and numerous articles in the field, including the EMS Pearls of Wisdom series of exam preparation texts published by Jones and Bartlett, Haskell has worked to bridge the theories of academic emergency medicine and the practice of EMS, the world of the Trauma Center and the realities of the street. Active as an emergency paramedic, firefighter, educator, and consultant, Haskell has a national reputation as writer and educator. He holds the Ph.D. and J.D. from Indiana University, has served on the faculties of Oberlin College, Emory University, Indiana University, the George Washington University School of Medicine, and maintains instructorships in the major EMS disciplines. He has served as a consultant and expert for both plaintiff and defense, providing case review, research, depositions, reports and trial testimony.
